1) The old dog walk will be advertised on Facebook for two weeks (7/1/25 - 21/1/25). The reserve price is $500 and transport is at the buyers expense. If you are interested in making an offer, PM the Canine Obedience Club Messenger on Facebook, including the price. The highest bidder will be notified. 

2) Training Fee is now due for those wanting to Trial. There is a calendar on the website and updates will be posted on Facebook. At each training session there will be a designated Responsible Person who will oversee the sessions. Please remember good sportsmanship and respect. 

3) COCT Inc will be using k9Entries as the Trial Entry Platform for 2025. Except tracking is via email to tracking.coct@gmail.com

4) Anzac Day - COCT Inc will be laying a wreath at a dawn service on Anzac Day.

5) Perpetual Trophies for 2025 - some of these have had some criteria changes.

 

Obedience 

UD TOWNSVILLE STEEL FRAMES PERPETUAL TROPHY : 

Donated by Townsville Steel Frames

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog with the single highest point score at a Townsville Trial in UD. If there is a tie, consecutive scores will be used as a countback. 

 

OPEN (CDX) BEING POLIDO MEMORIAL: 

Donated by Mrs. Pat Cecil  

To be awarded to a Townsville dog with the highest single point score at a Townsville Trial.  If there is a tie, consecutive scores will be used as a countback. 

 

OPEN MISS MUFFET:

The trophy will be awarded to a Townsville dog that gets the three best title qualifying scores in Open at any trial.

 

NOVICE (CD) JESS MCNALLY PERPETUAL TROPHY :

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog with the highest single point score in Novice at Townsville Trials.  If there is a tie, consecutive scores will be used as a countback. 

 

TOP NOVICE DOG : 

Donated by Townsville Veterinary Clinic

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog scoring the three highest aggregate qualifying scores in Novice. In the event of there not being three qualifying scores, the two highest scores will count.

 

COMMUNITY COMPANION DOG (CCD)

SUNNY MEMORIAL PERPETUAL TROPHY :

To be awarded to the Townsville dog scoring the three highest aggregate qualifying scores in CCD.

CRAIGALEN : 

Donated by Ted Morris (deceased)

The trophy will be awarded to the best three title qualifying scores of a Townsville dog in Townsville trials. If no dog gets three titles qualifying scores then the best two qualifying scores will count. In the event of a tied score the trophy will be shared. Any dog winning the trophy three consecutive times will retain the trophy. Scores in any class or any combination of classes to count e.g., one Novice and two Open qualifying Scores.

 

GYPSY INSPIRATIONAL : 

Donated by Judy Campbell

The trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring Townsville German Shepherd Dog at any trial. In the case of a tied score the trophy will be shared. Open scores no longer count once a dog has been entered in a UD trial or sweepstakes or has had its’ Open Title for more than twelve months.

NEVILLE & LINDA GREEN: 

Donated by Neville (deceased) & Linda Green

The trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring Townsville gundog at any Trial. In the case of a tied score the trophy will be shared. Open scores no longer count once a dog has entered in a UD trial or has had its Open Title more than 12 months.


RAY TAYLOR MEMORIAL TROPHY : 

Donated by Canine Obedience Club of Townsville Inc

The trophy will be awarded to a new Obedience handler in either CD (Novice) or CCD with the highest scoring Townsville dog in Obedience.

Rally

RN  TAMMY MEMORIAL PERPETUAL TROPHY -

To be awarded to new handlers only (ie have not competed in any obedience trials other than CCD or Novice Rally O) with the highest scoring Townsville dog in Novice Rally O at any trial. In the case of a tied score the trophy will be shared.

Proposed: To be awarded to the Townsville dog scoring the three highest aggregate qualifying in Rally Novice to achieve its title.

 

RA PAT CECIL PELORUS BORDER COLLIES TROPHY -

To be awarded to the person with the highest score in Rally O Advance at COCT Trials only. In the event of a tie the winner to be determined on a count back. If there is still a tie the trophy to be shared.

To be awarded to the Townsville dog with Highest Score in Excellent.  If the score is tied the trophy is to be awarded to the dog that achieved it first.

FURI MEMORIAL TROPHY –

In Memory of Track and Search Grand Champion Tracking Champion Monsimbee They Call Me Furi (AZ) RN

To be awarded to the Townsville Dog  and handler residing and competing in both Tracking and Track and Search with the best qualifying scores obtained at COCT only Tracking and Track and Search Trials over the current tracking season. A point score system is used. In the event there is no dog competing in both Tracking and Track and Search, a dog who has achieved their Championship in either Tracking or Track and Search is eligible to be awarded the Trophy as this shows achievements in both disciplines.

 

Agility

MARTY & LADDIE AGILITY:

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog with the most qualifying scores in Masters Agility Class in the current year. In the event of a tie a count back on placing is required.

 

TOP EXCELLENT AGILITY DOG : 

Donated by Bayside Veterinary Clinic

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog with the most number of qualifying scores in Excellent Agility in the current year. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined on a count back of major placings, not necessarily qualifying scores.


TOP NOVICE AGILITY DOG :

The trophy will be awarded to the Townsville dog with the most number of qualifying scores in Novice Agility in the current year. In the event of a tie the winner will be determined on a count back of major placings, not necessarily qualifying scores.

To be awarded to a Townsville dog that acquires the most qualifying scores in the current year (excluding qualifying scores from Open). Once a new level has been reached qualifying scores from the lower level will only be counted up until that day, the lower level may then be added to the higher level.

Scent Work Master

Scent Work Advanced

To be awarded to the dog earning the most Advanced level Quals in the calendar year up to 9 Quals as per title requirement (see tie break)

Scent Work Novice

To be awarded to the dog earning the most Novice level Quals in the calendar year up to 6 Quals as per title requirement (see tie break)

 

Masters and Excellent - the dog with the highest placings over their quals wins (eg. most 1st place etc).

Advanced and Excellent - the best placing 9 or 6 rounds respectively will be used but only the allowed number of quals for each element towards a Title can be used (eg. Novice quals can only use 2 searches from 2 elements and 1 search from another 2 elements equalling 6 quals. The best searches from each can be used but the competitor can submit up to the allowed 8 search quals when submitting results for end of year). 2nd Tie Break If placings are same then accumulation of times will be used. The shortest time accumulation wins following the same format for Advanced and Novice as placings have.
